![]() ![]() If we want to sort by color, and we've got four different colors we want to have at least four levels. Starting in Excel 2010, a Search box was added to the Filter menu. Click within the data, on the data tab, go to the larger sort button. The data is all in one solid cluster, 762 rows. Select the column you want to sort by, then decide whether youll sort by Cell Color, Font Color, or Cell Icon from the Sort On. Click the drop-down arrow next to Sort by and select the column label with your color. Tick the My data has headers checkbox in the top-right if your worksheet uses them. In this particular list I'll simply click within it and then press command A, quick reminder, just to make sure that we have all of our data in one continuous block then press control period a few times. Open your spreadsheet and click the Data tab. We cannot use the short menu icons for AZ or ZA, we have to use the larger sort button. ![]() Click Data > Sort, and a Sort dialog box will appear, see screenshot: 3. And if you use conditional formatting, you can also sort by cell icon. Select the range that you want to sort the data by color. You can sort on the basis of cell background color, or font color, as the case might be. We see yellow, blue, green, pink in row 23 and so on. ![]() In this work sheet called HR list color, the first obvious thing we see is the fact that certain rows, like row six, rows 12, 13, 15 have a cell color background. ![]()
